روپيه rūpiya S̱. (from روپا) s. m. A coin so called. The Calcutta Sicca Rupee is worth two shil- lings, and the silver of it is better than English standard silver by 2 3/4 pence the ounce. By the regulations of Government passed in May 1793, it should weigh 179 2/3 grains (Troy wt.).
