آ (for आ) ā S prep. To, at, until, unto, as far as. It is the opposite of अव ava, marks the limits of action; and, prefixed to certain verbs, reverses their meaning.

آدم خور ādam-ḵẖor P adj. Man-eater, man-de- vouring; a cannibal.

آرام आराम आ and r. रम Sport ā-rām S. s. m. A pleasure-garden, grove.

ا (for अ) a S A name of Vishnu: also, when prefixed to a word, it is an inseparable particle, signifying negation or privation; so, ادهرم अधर्म्म Injustice, from دهرم धर्म्म Justice; ادهن अधन Poor, from دهن धन Wealth.

ابتوري ab-torī S̱. adv. Till now, hitherto, yet, as yet, still.

ابج अब्ज अप् Water, and ज Born abja S. s. m. The nymphæa or lotus: the moon: a conch: a kind of tree (eugenia acutangula): the physician of the gods.

اجات अ and जात Kind, sort a-jāt S. adj. Expelled from his cast (a man).

اسده अशुद्ध अ and शुद्ध Pure, correct a-suddh S. adj. Incorrect, impure, inaccurate, mistaken.

اشوپت अश्वपति अश्व Horse, and पति Lord ashwa-pati S. s. m. A person of rank at- tended by horsemen, a horseman.

اماننیه अमाननीय अ and r. मान Respect, worship a-mānanīya S. adj. Incredible.

انڐج अण्डज अण्ड Egg, and ज Born an- ḍaj S. adj. Oviparous.
