آب ني āb-nai P s. The perpendicular tube of a ḥuḳḳa on which the chilam is fixed.

ابني abinai S̱. (अ and विनय Humility) s. m. Pertness, wantonness, want of submission.

بنيٿي banaiṭī H s. f. A torch lighted at both ends and whirled round so as to form a double circle of fire.

ني nai P s. f. A reed, a tube, a pipe, flute, fife, cane. ني بست nai-bast, Composed of reeds. ني زار nai-zār, A bed of reeds or canes. ني نواز nai-nawāz, Playing on a reed.

نيبيد naibed नैवेद्य S̱. s. m. Food consecrated to the deity, an oblation.

نيجانا nai jānā S̱. (r. णम Bend) v. n. To stoop.

نير naiyir A (from نور) s. m. 1. The sun. 2. The moon. نيراعظم naiyir-i-aﻌz̤am, The greater lu- minary, the sun. نيرين naiyirain, dual, The sun and moon.

نيرت nairit नैर्ऋत्य S̱. s. m. Southwest.

نيرنگ nairang P s. m. 1. Deceit, trick, pre- tence, evasion, incantation, magick, sorcery. 2. A miracle, any thing new. نيرنگ ساز nai- rang-sāz, A magician, sorcerer. نيرنگ سازي nairang-sāz-ī, s. f. Magick, sorcery.

نيسان naisān P s. m. Name of the 7th Syrian month, corresponding to the Persian فروردين and Hindī بيساکهہ baisākh. ابرنيسان abr-i-naisān, or ابرنيساني abr-i-naisānī, 1. The vernal cloud or rain. 2. The rain which falls while the moon is in the mansion swāti; and of which, if it drops into a shell, pearls are formed; but which turns to poison, if it happens to fall into the mouth of a serpent. See سوات swāti.

نيستان nai-istān P or nai-stān (comp. of ي Reed, and استان or ستان Place) s. m. 1. A sugar plantation, field of sugar-cane. 2. A place where canes or reeds grow.

نيشکر nai-shakar P s. f. Sugar-cane.
