آنجمن ānjan S̱. (अंजन) s. m. A collyrium or application to the eye-lashes to darken and improve them; antimony.

آوارجه āwārja P or awārija, s. m. A journal, a diary.

ابج अब्ज अप् Water, and ज Born abja S. s. m. The nymphæa or lotus: the moon: a conch: a kind of tree (eugenia acutangula): the physician of the gods.

ابجد abjad A s. m. A particular arrangement of the Arabic alphabet; the alphabet; a mode of denoting numbers by the letters of the alphabet.

اجس a-jas S̱. (अ and यशः) adj. Infamous.

اجل ajal A s. f. The term of life, fate, death, the hour of death, the predestined time of death, a stated time, delay, respite, period for the pay- ment of a debt. اجل رسیده ajal rasīda, Over- taken by fate. اجل گرفته ajal-girifta, Seized by fate, on the point of death, in a situation that leaves no hopes of life, in the jaws of death.

اجل ajall A adj. compar. (from جلیل) More or most glorious.

اجل ujjal उज्जवल S̱. adj. Clear, pure, shining, luminous, bright, splendid, blown, expanded.

اجلت ujjalit S̱. (उत् and ज्वलित Blazing) adj. Pure, clean, clear.

اجلنا ujalnā S̱. (उज्जवलन from उत् and r. ज्वल Shine) v. n. To become clean, to shine, to be bright.

اجنم अ and जन्म Birth a-janm S. adj. Un- born and unbegotten.

اجي a-jai S (अ and जय Victory, success) adj. Not victorious, unsuccessful, subdued.
