آ (for आ) ā S prep. To, at, until, unto, as far as. It is the opposite of अव ava, marks the limits of action; and, prefixed to certain verbs, reverses their meaning.

ا (for अ) a S A name of Vishnu: also, when prefixed to a word, it is an inseparable particle, signifying negation or privation; so, ادهرم अधर्म्म Injustice, from دهرم धर्म्म Justice; ادهن अधन Poor, from دهن धन Wealth.

پروهت पुरोहित पुरस् Before, formerly, and हित Appointed, employed purohit S. or pro- hit, s. m. A family priest conducting all the ce- remonials and sacrifices of a house or family.
