اعميٰ aﻌmạ A adj. Blind.

تعمق taʼaﻌmmuḳ A (inf. v. of عمق) s. m. 1. Deepness. 2. Penetrating, going deep into.

تعمير taﻌmīr A (inf. ii. of عمر) s. f. 1. Rebuilding, building, structure, repairing. 2. Making a place habitable, productive and populous. (Plur. تعميرات). تعميرکرنا taﻌmīr karnā, To build. تعميرهونا taﻌmīr honā, To be built.

تعميه taﻌmiya A (inf. ii. of عمي) s. m. 1. Act of rendering blind. 2. Concealing the meaning of a sentence or discourse. (Generally applied to a chronogram after the manner of abjad, when the clause, which should give the date, fails in accuracy, and the excess or defect is obscurely indicated by another word. Ex. gr. ازحوض لطيف اب بردار az ḥauẓ-i-lat̤īf āb bardār, Draw water from the pellucid cistern. The letters in حوض لطيف make 943, from which substracting those of اب 3, we have the date required 940). 3. An enigma.

زعم zaﻌm A or zuﻌm, s. m. 1. Thinking, opinion, presuming, presumption, speaking from belief. 2. Vanity, arrogance, assurance.

صلعم ṣalaﻌm A A mysterious word (added often to the name of Maḥammad) formed from the ab- breviation of the following words, صلي الله عليه وسلم ṣallạ-l-lāh aﻌlaihi wa sallam, The blessing and peace of God be with him.

عم aﻌmm A (Heb. or Connexion, pro- pinquity) s. m. An uncle, fatherʼs brother. عم زاده aﻌmm-zāda, Paternal uncleʼs son.

عماري aﻌmārī A s. f. A litter or seat with a ca- nopy to ride in on an elephant or camel. (When it has no canopy, it is called هوده).

عمدا aﻌmdā A or aﻌmdaṉ, adv. Deliberately, de- signedly, intentionally, purposely. A. P. عمدانه uﻌmdāna, adv. Like one noble. A. P. عمدگي uﻌmda-gī, s. f. Greatness, &c. sump- tuousness.

عمروزيد aﻌmrū zaid A Fictitious names, like John Nokes and Thomas Stiles, used in scholastick or juridical treatises.

عمل aﻌmal A (Heb. ) s. m. Action, act, opera- tion, work, practice, effect, rule, sway, jurisdic- tion. عملدار aﻌmal-dār, s. m. 1. One who has command. 2. A collector. عمل داري aﻌmal dār-ī, s. f. Collectorship, government. عمل کرنا aﻌmal-karnā, To act, operate, proceed.

عملا aﻌmalā A adv. In act, in deed.

عملي aﻌmal-ī A adj. Artificial, practical. حکمت عملي ḥikmat-i-aﻌmal-ī, Philosophy.
