آتم ātm आत्मन् S̱. s. m. Soul, self. (much used in the composition of Hindawī words; as) آتم پالک ātm-pālak, Selfish; آتم گهات ātm-ghāt, Self-murder; آتم نامي ātm-nāmī, Self-evident.

آتما आत्मा ātmā S s. f. The soul, the body, the self, the mind, the understanding. (Hence the Greek *autmh).

آرام आराम आ and r. रम Sport ā-rām S. s. m. A pleasure-garden, grove.

آرمبهہ आरम्भ ā-rambh S s. m. Beginning.

آسرم आश्रम ā-sram S s. m. 1. Abode, resi- dence. 2. A religious order (of which there are four kinds referable to the different periods of life: as, 1st. That of the ब्रह्मचारी brahma- chārī, or student; 2d. That of the गृहस्थ gr̤ihastha, or householder; 3d. That of the वानप्रस्थ vānaprastha, or anchorite: and 4thly. That of the भिक्षु bhiksh̤u, or beggar).

آسریمایا आसुरीमाया āsurī-māyā S s. f. De- ception of demons.

آسمنتات आसमन्तात् आ, सम् and अन्त End āsamantāt S. adv. All around, on every side; wholly, altogether.

آشرم आश्रम āshram S s. m. See آسرم āsram.

آم بات ām-bāt आमवात S̱. s. m. A swel- ling which comes without pain, and goes off as easily without medicine; a windy tumour.

آم आम ām S adj. Raw, undressed, unripe; s. m. Provisions, victuals (undressed).

آمب āmb आम्र S̱. s. m. Mango, mango tree.

آمرش आमर्ष āmarsh̤ S s. m. 1. Anger, wrath. 2. Envy, impatience of anotherʼs suc- cess, peevishness.

آمش आमिष āmish̤ S s. m. Flesh.

آملا āmlā आमलक S̱. s. m. The emblic my- robalan. (Phyllanthus emblica).
