استکبار istikbār A (inf. x. of کبر Heb. ) s. m. Pride, presumption, conceit.

اکبار ik-bār S̱. (for ایکبار) One time, once.

اکبر akbar A adj. compar. (of کبیر) Greater, very great, greatest. S̱.P. اکپیچه ik-pech-a, s. m. Name of an ornament for the head. S. اکت उक्ति (r. वच Speak) ukat or ukti, s. f. Speech, speaking. اکت بنانا ukat banānā, To make up a story, to invent, to contrive.

بکبکانا bakbakānā S̱. (see s̱. بک) v. n. To prattle, chatter, clack.

تکبر takabbur A (inf. v. of کبر) s. m. Arrogance, haughtiness, pride. A. H. تکبري takabbur-ī, s. f. Haughtiness.

تکبير takbīr A (inf. ii. of کبر) s. f. Repeating the Musalmān creed; or only saying, "God is great," upon particular occasions.

راکب rākib A (part. act. of رکوب Heb. ) 1. s. m. A rider. 2. part. Riding, mounted (on a horse, ship, &c.).

سيخيا کباب sīḵẖiyā-kabāb P. s. m. Meat roasted on a spit.

سکبينج sikbīnaj G. (Arab. but Pers. سکبينه) s. m. Sagapenum, a kind of gum resin. (Greek sagaphnon Hippoc. and Dioscor.).

ماس کبار mās-kabār PORT. (corrupt. from Portug. mes, A month, and acabar, To end, to termi- nate) The last day of a month.

مترکب mutarakkib A part. act. (V. of رکب) Composing, compounding.

متکبر mutakabbir A (part. act. V. from کبر Heb. and Aram. ) adj. Proud, haughty, arrogant, disdainful, fastidious. A. P. متکبرانه mutakabbir-āna, adj. Arrogant, ar- rogantly.

مرتکب murtakib A (part. act. VIII. of رکب Heb. ) adj. 1. Mounted, carried, riding. 2. Perpetrating, committing (a crime); aggressor, perpetrator. مرتکب هونا murtakib honā, To perpetrate, to commit (a crime), to be an ag- gressor.

مرکب murakkab A (part. pass. II. of رکب Heb. ) adj. Compounded, compound, composed, combined, mixed; subst. Ink. Plur. مرکبات murakkabāt, Compounds (in medicine), things compounded, not simple. ¶ markab (noun of place from رکب) s. m. A horse, ship, camel, vehicle, any thing on which a person is carried.

موکب maukib A (noun of place from وکب) s. m. An army, forces, a choice body of troops.
