چـﮩل chihal P or chihil, adj. Forty. چـﮩل ته chihal-tah, s. f. Coat of mail. چـﮩل ستون chi- hal-satūn, or چـﮩل منار chihal-manār, n. prop. Name of Persepolis. چـﮩل قدمي chihal-ḳadmī, s. f. 1. Walk, ramble. 2. A custom, at the funerals of Musalmāns, of stepping back forty paces from the grave and again advancing to it before reading the service over.

چـﮩل chuhal H s. f. 1. Mention. 2. Cheer, jol- lity, mirth, merriment, festivity. چـﮩل کرنا chu- hal karnā, To carol, to make merry, &c.

چـﮩلـﮩ‍‍ا chihlahā H (from چـﮩ‍لا chihlā) adj. Splashy, muddy, slimy.

چـﮩلم chihlum P adj. Fortieth, the fortieth day (of mourning, &c.).

چـﮩلنا chahalnā H v. n. To be fatigued, to tire.
