الحاح ilḥāḥ A (inf. iv. of لحّ) s. f. Solicitation, urgency, importunity, importunate entreaty.

الحاد ilḥād A (inf. iv. of لحد) s. Irreligion, im- piety, heresy, unbelief, apostasy, atheism.

الحاق ilḥāḳ A (inf. iv. of لحق) s. m. Annexation, junction, addition, adjunction, continuity.

الحال al-ḥāl A adv. Now, at present, presently, just now.

الحان ilḥān A (inf. iv. of لحن) s. m. Note, sound, modulation, tune, an air (in musick). ¶ alḥān, s. plur. (of لحن) Notes, tunes.

بيت الحرام baitu-l-ḥarām A s. m. (Sacred house) The temple of Mecca.

صلحا ṣulaḥā A s. plur. (of صالح) Pious, upright men.

لحاظ liḥāz̤ A (from لحظ) s. m. A look, a glance, view, sense, respect, regard, attention, observa- tion, notice. لحاظ کرنا liḥāz̤ karnā, To observe, behold, look (to or at), advert (to), regard, mind, observe, notice.

لحاف lihāf A (from لحف) s. m. 1. A coverlet, a quilt, a counterpane. 2. A quilted upper garment. 3. (met.) A wife.

لحد laḥad A s. f. 1. A niche in the side of a se- pulchre in which dead bodies are deposited. 2. (in Hindūstān) A place where the dead are washed.

لحظ laḥz̤ A s. f. Looking askew or by the corner of the eye.

لحظه laḥz̤a A s. m. 1. A moment, the twinkling of an eye. 2. A look, a glance.

مصلحت maṣlaḥat A (inf. of صلح) s. f. 1. The what is right, fit or correct, convenience, ex- pedience, an expedient, fitness. 2. Counsel, advice. 3. Affair. مصلحت کرني maṣlaḥat karnī, To consult, to advise, to counsel, to conspire, to combine. مصلحتا maṣlaḥatā or مصلحتاً maṣ- laḥataṉ, adv. Advisedly, expediently.

ملحد mulḥid A (part. act. IV. of لحد) s. m. A heretick, unbeliever, one who denies the resur- rection, a deist, an apostate. (Arab. plur. ملحدين mulḥidīn).
