سفله sifla A or safila, adj. 1. Ignoble, mean, contemptible. 2. Stingy, miserly. 3. Envious. سفله خو sifla-ḵẖū, adj. Mean-spirited. سفله دان sifla-dān, s. m. A cup, or plate, to throw scraps, bones, &c. on.

سفلي sufl-ī A adj. Lower, inferiour, infernal.

طفلي t̤ifl-ī A. s. f. Infancy, childhood.

فلفل filfil A (from Sans. पिप्पली) s. f. Pepper.

فلوس fulūs A s. plur. m. (of فلس) Small coins, a paisā.

فليته falīta A. (corrupt. from فتيله) s. m. 1. Match, torch, wick, fusee. 2. A wick com- posed of paper inscribed with mystick words, by inhaling the smoke of which demons are said to be expelled from those possessed. 3. A cord of twisted thread sewed between the two folds of the hem of a garment to strengthen it. فليته دار falīta-dār, 1. A matchlock. 2. Any thing that has a match or wick. 3. Cloth hemmed with a cord (فليته falīta, q. v.).

قافله ḳāfila A (from Chald. and Syr. To roll, fold, compress; q. d. a compact multitude) s. m. A body of travellers, a caravan. (Hence قفل To return from a journey: Willmet). قافله سالار ḳāfila-sālār, The leader, or chief of a ca- ravan. قافله باشي ḳāfila-bāshī, s. f. The chief- tainship of a caravan.

مفلوج maflūj A (part. pass. of فلج Heb. and Aram. ) adj. Paralytick.

مفلوک maflūk A (part. pass. of فلک) adj. In- digent, distressed, unfortunate, beggarly.
