بادانباد bādānubād S (वादानुवाद i. e. वाद Assertion, and अनुवाद Repetition) s. m. Al- tercation.

بهدبهدانا bhadbhadānā H v. a. 1. To make a sound by striking two bodies together. 2. To strike repeatedly.

بيدانت bedānt S (वेदांत) s. m. The name of a particular Hindū philosophical system.

بيدانتي bedānt-ī S (वेदांती) s. m. One who is conversant in the bedānt system.

بگدانا bagdānā H (trans. of بگدنا) v. a. To cause to return, to put to the rout.

دانا dānā P adj. Wise, learned, sage. داناي دهر dānā-e-dahr, Wise. (Pers. plur. دانايان). ¶ For دانه dāna, Grain, &c. q. v.

داناٴي dānā-ī P s. f. Wisdom.

دانت dānt दंत S̱. s. m. A tooth. دانت انگلي کاٿنا dānt unglī kāṭnā, To bite the finger, is a term expressive of being surprised. دانت باجنا dānt bājnā, or دانت بجنا dānt bajnā, v. n. To chatter the teeth, to squabble, wrangle, chattering of the teeth, squabbling, wrangling, spar- ring. دانت پتهرپوگهسنا dānt patthar po ghisnā (dakh. i. q. هوس کرنا) To desire, to covet (?). دانت پرچڙهانا dānt par chaṛhānā, To detract from the virtues or praise of another. دانت پيسنا dānt pīsnā, To gnash the teeth, to grin. دانت تلي انگلي دبانا يا کاٿنا dānt tale unglī-da- bānā or -kāṭnā, To stand in amaze, to be amazed, to wonder. دانت رکهنا يا هونا کسي پر dānt-rakhnā or -honā kisī par, 1. To desire any thing exceedingly. 2. To hate. دانت سلسلانا dānt salsalānā (dakh.) To ache or pain the teeth. دانت کاٿي روٿي کهانا dānt kāṭī roṭī khānā, To be the most intimate friend of any one. دانت کٿکٿانا dānt kaṭkaṭānā, v. a. To gnash the teeth. دانت کچکچانا dānt kachka- chānā, To grin, to shew the teeth. دانت کهٿي کرنا dānt khaṭṭe karnā, To dishearten, to dis- please. دانت لانا يا نکالنا dānt-lānā or -nikālnā, To teeth, grow (as teeth). دانت نکالنا dant- nikālnā, 1. To laugh, to grin. 2. To express or confess inability and helplessness. دانتون زمين پکڙني dāntoṅ zamīn pakaṛnī (lit. To bite

دانتاکلکل dāntākilkil दन्तकिलकिला S̱. s. f. Quarrel.

دانتن dāntan S̱. s. m. A tooth-brush made from the branch of a tree. See دتون datwan.

دانتي dānt-ī दन्त S̱. s. f. The tooth of a saw or other instrument, cog (of a wheel). دانتي پڙنا dāntī paṛnā, v. n. To be notched or indent- ed (the edge of a tool). دانتي دينا dāntī denā, To insist upon. دانتي لگنا dāntī lagnā, To have a locked jaw.

دانسته dānista P (from دانستن) part. pass. Known, knowing.

دانش dānish P (from دانستن) s. f. Knowledge, science, learning.
