آب جاري āb-i-jārī P s. Running water; a stream, a rivulet, a current, tears flowing.

آجا ājā आर्य्यक S̱. s. m. A paternal grandfather.

آجانا ā-jānā S̱. (آنا and جانا q. v.) v. n. 1. To come suddenly, befall, happen. 2. To come.

آجده ā-judh S (आयुध from आ and r. युध Fight) s. m. A weapon (in general).

آهرجاهر āhar jāhar S̱. (from آنا and جانا) s. f. Coming and going, ingress and egress.

آواجاٴي āwā-jāʼī S̱. (from آنا and جانا) s. f. Coming and going, intercourse, dancing after.

ابجد abjad A s. m. A particular arrangement of the Arabic alphabet; the alphabet; a mode of denoting numbers by the letters of the alphabet.

ابجد خوان abjad-ḵẖẉān P s. m. One who is learning his alphabet.

اجابت ijābat A (inf. iv. of جوب) s. f. Answering (of prayer or of a petition), consent, appro- bation, compliance.

اجات अ and जात Kind, sort a-jāt S. adj. Expelled from his cast (a man).

اجاتي ajāt-ī S s. m. A man who has lost his cast.

اجاره ijāra A s. m. 1. Hire, rent, a privilege or income of variable amount sold or let for a fixed sum. 2. A farm. A. P. اجاره دار ijāra-dār, s. m. A farmer of land or of revenue: one who has purchased the la- bour of another: the holder of a monopoly.

اجازت ijāzat A (inf. iv. of جوز) s. f. Permission, leave, dispensation, sanction, commands, orders. اجازت خواه ijāzat-ḵẖẉāh, adj. Asking per- mission. اجازت دینا ijāzat denā, To permit.

اجالا ujālā S̱. (उत् and r. ज्वल Shine) 1. s. m. Splendour, brightness, light. 2. adj. See اجل ujjal.

اجالنا ujālnā S̱. (caus. of اجلنا q. v.) v. a. To cleanse, to polish (metals or jewels).
