اتقا ittiḳā A (inf. viii. of وقي) s. m. Avoiding, shunning; abstaining from evil; piety.

استقامت istiḳāmat A (inf. x. of قیام) s. f. Standing erect; rectitude, integrity, continuance, sta- bility, constancy, residence.

استقبال istiḳbāl A (inf. x. of قبل Heb. and Ch. He came in front, he accepted) s. m. 1. En- countering, meeting, the ceremony of meeting and receiving a visitor. 2. Futurity.

استقرا istiḳrā A (inf. x. of قرء Heb. He read) s. m. Reasoning from induction.

اشتقاق ishtiḳāḳ A (inf. viii. of شقّ) s. m. Deri- vation of one word from another, etymology.

اعتقاد iﻌtiḳād A (inf. viii. of عقد) s. m. Con- fidence, faith, trust, belief. (Plur. اعتقادات).

انتقال intiḳāl A (inf. viii. of نقل) s. m. Migra- tion, transporting, transferring, passing from one to another, translation, conveyance, travelling; departure, decease, dying.

انتقام intiḳām A (inf. viii. of نقم Heb. He took revenge) s. m. Revenge, retaliation. انتقام لینا intiḳām lenā, To take revenge, to revenge.

تقابل taḳābul A (inf. vi. of قبل) s. m. Encoun- tering, the being drawn up in mutual opposition.

تقارب taḳārub A (inf. vi. of قرب) s. m. 1. Ap- proaching one another. 2. (in versification) Name of a measure.

تقاضا taḳāẓā A (for تقاضي inf. vi. of قضي) s. m. Dunning, exacting, exigence, urgency, importu- nity. تقاضاي سن taḳāẓā-i-sinn, The customs or habits of different ages, as of childhood, youth, manhood, &c. تقاضاي شديد taḳāẓā-i-shadīd, Inexorable dunning. A.H. تفاضائي taḳāẓā-ī, adj. Importunate, urging, solicitous.

تقاطر taḳāt̤ur A (inf. vi. of قطر) s. m. 1. Distilling drop by drop. 2. Raining.

تقاوت taḳāwat A. (from تقي or وقي) s. f. Piety, abstinence, continence.

تقاوي taḳāwī A (inf. vi. of قوي) s. f. 1. Strength- ening, assisting (particularly, tenants). 2. Vying, contending with. 3. Money in advance.

تقدس taḳaddasa A (3d pers. sing. past tense of v. conjug. from قدس used adjectively) Pure, holy, purified. تقدس تعاليٰٰ taḳaddasa taʼāﻌlạ̄ (an epithet of the deity) Holy most high.
