آکاس برت ākās-brit S̱. (आकाश The sky, and वृत्ति Livelihood) s. f. Subsistence not derived from any certain funds or depending on any par- ticular person; living from hand to mouth.

آکاس برتي ākās-britt-ī S̱. adj. used substantively, One whose subsistence is fortuitous.

ابرا abrā P s. m. The outer fold of a double garment (distinguished from استر astar, the lining). See ابره abra.

ابرار abrār A s. plur. (from برّ Heb. and Ch. To polish, purify, select) Just, holy, pious men, dutiful (to parents).

ابرام ibrām A (inf. iv. of برم) s. m. Solicitation, entreaty, urgency, distressing.

ابراهیم ibrāhīm A n. prop. Abraham.

ابرد abrad A adj. compar. (from برد Heb. and Ch. To freeze, to hail) Cold, very cold.

ابرص abraṣ A (from برص) adj. Leprous, having the leprosy.

اربرانا arbarānā H v. n. To hurry, to be confused, confounded, perplexed, agitated, embar- rassed, &c. See هملبلانا and هڙبڙانا.

استبرا istibrā A (inf. x. of برأ) s. m. 1. Cleansing, washing oneʼs hands of a business or desiring to be freed from it. 2. The waiting of a woman after being divorced from her husband, to as certain whether she is pregnant or not, before she can contract another marriage. (The term is three months, according to the Muhammadan law).

البرز alburz P s. m. Name of a celebrated moun- tain between Persia and India.

انبراي ambarāʼī S̱. (आम्र Mango, and राजि Row) s. f. A mango-orchard or - grove.

برآر bar-ār P (بر Up, and part. act. of آوردن To bring) Bringing or bearing up; accomplisher, performer, producer, raiser up, bearer up, taker, hearer.

برآشفته bar-āshufta P adj. See آشفته āshufta.

برئي baraʼī H s. m. A seller of betel leaf, a culti- vator of betel.
