عارض āﻌriẓ A (from عرض) s. m. 1. The cheek. 2. An accident. 3. A mustermaster, also the general of an army. 4. part. act. Happening, befalling.

عارضه āﻌriẓa A s. m. Any thing necessary to be done, an accident, an event, an affection.

عارضي āﻌriẓ-ī A adj. Accidental, adventitious, ca- sual.

عارف āﻌrif A (part. act. of عرف) 1. adj. Wise, sagacious, ingenious, pious, devout. 2. s. m. A holy man. (Plur. عرفا uﻌrafā or عارفين āﻌri- fīn). A.P. عارفانه āﻌrif-āna, adv. Wisely, acutely, piously, devoutly. adj. Wise, pious.

عاريت āﻌriyat A (from عور) s. f. Borrowing or lending any thing which is itself to be returned. See ادهار udhār.

عاريتي āﻌriyat-ī A adj. 1. Borrowed, lent. 2. Factitious, not oneʼs own.

معارض muʼāﻌriẓ A (part. act. III. of عرض) 1. adj. Opposing, adverse. 2. s. m. An adversary, opponent, competitor.

معارف maʼāﻌrif A s. plur. (of معرفة) Knowledges.
